French - La Jolie Ronde

'La Jolie Ronde' is a French language activity course for very young children.  It is a franchise system that is controlled by Head Office in Nottingham.

We have been operating La Jolie Ronde sessions in school time for eight years - and will be continuing to this year.  At present over a hundred children attend.  The sessions are based on finger rhymes, songs and activities giving the children confidence to verbalise in French.  Our French teacher, Sylvie Kolvik, is trained by La Jolie Ronde.  All children need to purchase a textbook and CD - which is used during the first years and also for parents to learn with the children at home.  The children are taught in small groups which gives them an excellent teacher/child ratio.

‘La Jolie Ronde’ is totally non-profit making - we rely on parents paying promptly.  'La Jolie Ronde' fees do not fall within the normal charging policy of the school.  These sessions fall within the category of activities not directly run by the school.  The sessions are non-profit making, the cost is determined each term by the number of children attending.  Parents must give school a terms notice if a child wishes to stop these sessions.  The current costs are approximately £78 a year plus the purchase of the book and CD - £13.95.

As parents prefer these sessions to be held during school time we have to inform you of attendance regulations.  'Parents must ask the school to agree to their children being absent first, as they would if they wanted to take their children out of school for an annual holiday.  The Headteacher and the Governing Body must decide whether this is in the pupil's best interest.'  (School Governors Guide to the Law DFE 1994.)  All parents are entitled to take their children out of school for two weeks per academic year.

If you would like your child to begin La Jolie Ronde in September please return the relevant slip by the beginning of July.  Fees will be calculated when numbers are known.
