Sudley Infant School
NEWSLETTER 10 (2004) 10 November 2004
Dear Parents, Guardians, Friends & Governors
Book Fair Thank you for supporting this event. Your purchases raised £417 for school funds.
Charities Day Total raised £2,900. Well done everyone – a special thank you to teachers and staff for organising the events.
Road Safety Reception children have been given a reflector to wear. This has been supplied to all schools by the Nationwide Building Society. Years 1 and 2 have been given similar reflectors in previous years.
September 2005 All applications for a place next September should be in before the end of this month. If you know of anyone who has not yet applied, please remind them.
Christmas Fair Please support this event on Friday, 26 November which will be held in this school from 6.30 – 8.30 pm. Every penny goes to help your child’s education by buying extra resources or giving the children memorable experiences. Watch out for notes from SIPFA regarding bringing items into school.
Christmas Post The postbox will be put out in the foyer at the beginning of December. I’m afraid we are not able to provide parents with class lists for Christmas cards or party invitations. Please encourage your child to write their friends’ names and class on the envelope as each year we have a number of blank cards in the box. Year 2 act as postpeople to deliver the cards around the school - they enjoy this and the children look forward to the deliveries.
Christmas Dinner 8 December - for children who have school meals only. We thank Mrs Turton and team for the handmade, snowmen table decorations and the little gifts that both dinner and packed lunch children receive from the kitchen and dinner staff.
Party Day Monday, 20 December. Father Christmas and Wavy Dave will be attending. Cost is £2.50 (this includes entertainment and party food). Please send this amount in as soon as possible in an envelope noted with your child’s name and class. Children may bring in party clothes to wear in the afternoon. Please ensure all clothing is clearly marked. All children will receive a present from Father Christmas – if they are good!
Photographs The children will all be individually photographed in their costumes, in front of the Christmas tree. The photographs will be available from the classteacher – priced £1, during the last week of term.
Dates 14 & 15 Dec Year 2 children visit Norton Priory. 21 Dec Break up at 1.30 pm. 6 Jan 2005 Children return to school. 14 Jan Pantomime for the children – Aladdin. 14 - 18 Feb Half Term.
Stories at Christmas TWO TICKETS PER CHILD will be issued for our Christmas concert. Each ticket will allow ONE PERSON ONLY into the performance on 16 or 17 December. Please return any unwanted tickets to Mrs Burkhill as there is always a waiting list. ADMISSION TO THE PERFORMANCES WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED ON PRODUCTION OF THE APPROPRIATE TICKET. Please swop tickets amongst yourselves if a day is not convenient.
RECEPTION will receive tickets for Thursday, 16 December at 9.30 am. YEAR 2 will receive tickets for Friday, 17 December at 9.30 am. All of KINGFISHERS and half of BLACKBIRDS (surnames up to and including G) will receive tickets for Thursday, 16 December at 9.30 am. The other half of BLACKBIRDS (surnames from H) and all of NIGHTINGALES will receive tickets for Friday, 17 December at 9.30 am.
Cameras are allowed at all performances. VIDEO cameras are allowed at the DRESS REHEARSAL ONLY on Monday, 13 December at 9.30 am. PLEASE LET MRS BURKHILL KNOW IF YOU WISH TO VIDEO THE DRESS REHEARSAL and, if possible, you will be issued with an appropriate video ticket. The maximum number of video tickets issued will be 25.
I have a limited number of tickets available to watch the dress rehearsal which will be issued on a first come first served basis (one per family only). These tickets are not available if you are applying for a video ticket. They are available to family/friends who are NOT coming on 16 or 17 December. Requests for tickets for the dress rehearsal should be placed by telephone or in person to Mrs Burkhill.
All tickets will be sent out approximately a week before the performances.
NO BABIES, TODDLERS OR CHILDREN OF PRE-SCHOOL AGE WILL BE ADMITTED TO ANY PERFORMANCE, INCLUDING THE DRESS REHEARSAL. If you have older children who are off school on the day of the performance, please make arrangements for their care.
The performance will last approximately an hour. All children will be taking part in the two performances and dress rehearsal. Programmes will be on sale at £1 from 13 December. Also, there will be a collection for school fund on your way out. This will help towards the cost of the backdrop, costumes, props etc.
